You know that basket of biscuits that come to the table at a restaurant. Of course, they are hot right out of the oven. It’s that steam that lets out when you open the biscuit. YUM!
Here is a secret way I found that makes baking biscuits easier!
One of the first recipes kids love to make is biscuits. They are easy to make and taste delicious right out of the oven.
This recipe is a drop biscuit, so no biscuit cutter needed.
To give biscuits more flavor, you can make honey butter.
You can also make savory biscuits by adding 1 cup grated cheese.
Enjoy!
Here is what you need
- 2 Cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1 Cup buttermilk (or 1 Cup milk with 1 Tablespoon white vinegar or lemon juice – let sit for 10 minutes)
- 1 stick butter (1/2 Cup)
- Honey Butter – 1 stick butter + 1/2 Cup honey + 1/2 cup powdered sugar (optional)
How to Make:
Heat oven to 425 degrees.
In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt.
Combine cold buttermilk and melted butter in medium bowl, stirring until butter forms small clumps.
Add buttermilk mixture to dry ingredients and stir with rubber spatula until just mixed.
Using spoon, scoop batter and drop onto parchment-lined baking sheet. Biscuits should measure about 2 inches round.
Repeat with remaining batter, spacing biscuits about 1 1/2 inches apart.
Bake until tops are golden brown and crisp, 12 to 14 minutes.
Make honey butter by mixing softened butter, honey and powdered sugar. Spread onto warm biscuits.
