Equipment

  • Rolling Pin
  • pie dish
  • pastry blender

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 Cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 Cup butter (1 stick) - Keep cold
  • 2-4 tbsp milk

Instructions

  • How to Make:
    Add flour to a bowl.
Add sugar and salt and mix.
With a pastry blender or fork (or even your fingers), break the cold butter into small pieces the size of a pea.
Add 2 tablespoons of cold milk.
With a fork, mix milk into the flour mixture. If it looks dry, add another tablespoon of milk.
    Form a ball.
Keep dough cold in airtight container until ready to use.
Roll out dough on a floured board to 1/8 inch thick.
Cut to the size you need. Carefully place in pie dish.
If you need to bake the crust without filling, bake in preheated oven at 325 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
If making a crust top, cover the apple filling with crust top. Lightly spread water with a pastry brush, then lightly sprinkle with sugar. This will give it a nice shiny top.
